The pirate is a matt-black mono-fork and mono-stay rear end balance bike, keeping it amongst the lightest in its class.

The pedeX pirate balance bike is the pre-eminent balance bike in our current range. We are extremely proud of this model and the attention to detail our engineers and designers have put into bringing it to market. From experience we can see that children enthusiastically respond to this model.

From an engineering perspective, the pedeX pirate balance bike is a cleverly designed, extra light and very cool looking running bike designed and engineered in Germany. Our in-house engineers developed an aluminium fram with a mono fork and mono-stay rear end to reduce its weight to only 3.3 kg (7.3 lbs). Additionally, the saddle can be adjusted down so low (31 cm from the ground) that even very small children from the age of one and a half years can potentially use this running bike.

In addition to its unique structure our design team worked on customising the pedeX pirate balance bike so that it lives up to its name. The pedeX pirate balance bike comes with a metal skull and crossbones head badge. To add an extra cool feature, the balance bike has a streamline skull and crossbones printed saddle with metal studs. We take the skull and crossbones theme one step further and replace standard valve caps with our custom black skull and crossbones valve caps. A final feature are the quick-release wheels for easy storage and transporation.

All of our bikes (balance bikes and kids’ bikes) have powder coated spokes, which typically last longer and hold up in the wet. Our entire balance bike range comes standard with pneumatic tires.

The pedeX pirate balance bike has safety grips on the handle bars. The cushioned impact protectors at the ends of the handle bars help protect children from injuries if they fall. Kids’ safety is further enhanced with the Allen key saddle post tightener, rather than a quick-release which we believe is one less thing to worry about in avoiding injuries with little fingers getting caught. The Germans agree with us, too.

For extra safety we recommend wearing a suitable bike helmet. For further information on how to fit and wear a helmet correctly, please have a look here on our blog.

This toy meets the EN71 Standard.

We recently purchased the pedex pirate bike for our son’s 2nd birthday and he loves it. As he hadn’t had any bike / trike before we were a little nervous but he took to it immediately and we were surprised with how quickly he is picking it up.
The bike itself is really high quality – quick to assembly, extremely lightweight and easy to transport but this one stood out due to its slick black design and attention to detail with the skull caps etc.
Would def recommend scool balance bikes to any other budding bike riders out there as this is certainly the best kids bike we’ve purchased so far!

I’ve been searching for a high quality balance bike for my daughter and I found the Pedex product. Being a rider myself, I know the importance of a high quality light frame for safety and convenience and this bike delivers on all accounts.

My daughter loves her Pedex pirate and the confidence she is showing riding is great! I think we might get to skip the training wheels all together.

This is our first try at a balance bike, having taught my older kids to ride with training wheels. I’ve gotta say I can immediately see the benefits of the balance bike, teaching my 2 year old daughter handling skills that generally only came for the others once the training wheels had come off. The pedex pirate bike is well made – strong and lightweight, real easy to thrown in the back of the car when we’re heading out. And she loves the pirate thing… ARRR!!!
