The pirate is a matt-black mono-fork and mono-stay rear end balance bike, keeping it amongst the lightest in its class.
The pedeX pirate balance bike is the pre-eminent balance bike in our current range. We are extremely proud of this model and the attention to detail our engineers and designers have put into bringing it to market. From experience we can see that children enthusiastically respond to this model.
From an engineering perspective, the pedeX pirate balance bike is a cleverly designed, extra light and very cool looking running bike designed and engineered in Germany. Our in-house engineers developed an aluminium fram with a mono fork and mono-stay rear end to reduce its weight to only 3.3 kg (7.3 lbs). Additionally, the saddle can be adjusted down so low (31 cm from the ground) that even very small children from the age of one and a half years can potentially use this running bike.
In addition to its unique structure our design team worked on customising the pedeX pirate balance bike so that it lives up to its name. The pedeX pirate balance bike comes with a metal skull and crossbones head badge. To add an extra cool feature, the balance bike has a streamline skull and crossbones printed saddle with metal studs. We take the skull and crossbones theme one step further and replace standard valve caps with our custom black skull and crossbones valve caps. A final feature are the quick-release wheels for easy storage and transporation.
All of our bikes (balance bikes and kids’ bikes) have powder coated spokes, which typically last longer and hold up in the wet. Our entire balance bike range comes standard with pneumatic tires.
The pedeX pirate balance bike has safety grips on the handle bars. The cushioned impact protectors at the ends of the handle bars help protect children from injuries if they fall. Kids’ safety is further enhanced with the Allen key saddle post tightener, rather than a quick-release which we believe is one less thing to worry about in avoiding injuries with little fingers getting caught. The Germans agree with us, too.
For extra safety we recommend wearing a suitable bike helmet. For further information on how to fit and wear a helmet correctly, please have a look here on our blog.
